Since I’ve started a blog, I wanted to go back and share some of my old photo sessions with all of you. These babies are just too cute not to show off! I met this family about a year ago (my goodness does time fly!) and they are just the sweetest. Their baby boy was SO cute! I had a ton of fun having them in my Denver newborn photography studio, and I love that we still keep in touch today!
Mom and Dad wanted to go with a blue and dark gray color palette and I think it worked out beautifully. Both colors really made this sweet boy’s porcelain skin stand out. Here in the studio I have a large variety of fabric colors to choose from along with a number of bonnets, floral headbands, knit hats, and outfits, and onesies. I’ve managed to collect a variety of props specifically for newborn photography including baskets, buckets, bowls, vintage crates, and barn wood backdrops. The studio even has a separate area set up with seamless paper for parent and sibling poses! I find that with a brand new baby (and after coming home from the hospital), the last thing new parents want to do is prep their house for a photographer. So everything is ready to go… the only thing missing is baby!
Now, let’s get back to sharing pictures of this tiny little guy!

I mean, really… would you just look at this smile?!

I love taking out my macro filter during a session so I can grab these detail shots for parents. These little features, like the tiny fuzz on your newborn’s ear, are so easy to forget as they grow and change! I love that I can help parents remember them forever.

Look how tiny baby looks in Mom’s hands…

This next image has a special place in my heart. This little guy had two older sisters (twins), but one of his siblings passed away in the NICU. Mom asked if we could use a sunflower to represent his angel sister. ABSOLUTELY! I love how he’s looking straight into the camera. It just melts my heart.

I am happy to see that you work with the parents to ensure their vision comes to life during the newborn session. Do work with the parents before hand to understand what they are looking for?
Absolutely! We have a consultation beforehand so we can discuss color choices, wardrobe, any special heirloom items they may want incorporated into the session, the parents’ likes and dislikes (for example, some parents love those ‘naked baby’ photos while others prefer not to have any), and what their overall vision is for the session. I also discuss newborn safety and any special considerations that may need to be accommodated (perhaps baby has a known genetic condition that will change the way he/she needs to be positioned during the photo session, or maybe mom is having a C-Section and we need to delay the session by a few more days to allow her to heal). A little planning goes a long way!
You seem to be able to capture such sweetness in a new born. Great job.
What an adorable newborn photo session! Any Denver family would be so lucky to have you photograph their baby!
